About Louis Low

I'm Louis Low, a Senior Software Engineer and AWS Cloud Practitioner based in Singapore. I lead the geospatial work for Agronomy and Farming Services as the subject matter expert for GEOS, and I'm a Technical Lead in training. On the wider AgriTech platform I work closely with the platform architect on the designs and their implementation, and propose changes of my own where I can see a way to improve the overall system.

LEADERSHIP & CURRENT FOCUS

I lead the geospatial work. The crop biomass and variable rate application maps, the spatial data behind them and the services that deliver them are the part I own and answer for, and as the subject matter expert for GEOS I'm the person the team comes to when a question turns out to be a geospatial one.

I'm training into the Technical Lead role for Agronomy and Farming Services, and I'm already doing the work it asks for: backing my team's technical growth through mentoring, research and hands-on engineering practice, and applying agile methodologies (Scrum and SAFe) to deliver high-quality products that meet the needs of our customers and stakeholders. My mission is to put my skills and my passion for software engineering to work on innovative, impactful solutions for the future of farming.

Day to day that means geospatial data on AWS: event-driven services on Apache Kafka, Redis caching, machine-to-machine authentication with Auth0, and serverless Lambda applications shipped through GitHub Actions. I work test-first with TDD and BDD, cover it with Jest across unit and end-to-end suites, and keep everything I ship observable through Instana and Datadog. GEOS itself is built to SOLID principles.
